The Bronx Group of Companies – The Bronx Brand

1940: Bronx Engineering was founded in Lye, West Midlands of England by Bryan Crosthwaite and John Folkes.

The “Bronx” name came after Bryan visited The Bronx in New York and found the name strong and resilient — ideal for an engineering brand. Bronx originally manufactured iron stoves and later added roll benders, guillotines, shears, bar and tube straighteners, spade and hoe mills, and press brakes (from 1945), for which it gained international recognition.

1950s–1960s: The rise of service centres in the UK drove Bronx to develop shears and guillotines, leading to its first process lines. As demand increased, Bronx supplied over 300 cut-to-length lines and over 200 slitting lines worldwide, cementing its reputation for high-quality service centre equipment.

1970s–1980s:
• 1970 – First Continuous Colour Coating Line built for Kockums Jernverk, Sweden
• 1973 – Bronx UK and Taylor-Wilson (USA) form co-licensing agreement
• 1975 – First Continuous Galvanising Line at Federal Iron Works, Malaysia
• 1989 – Bronx International (Australia) Pty Ltd founded

1990s–Present Day:
• 2001 – Bronx/Taylor Wilson formed, acquiring assets from Taylor-Wilson and Bronx Engineering Tube and Bar
• 2001 – Bronx Engineering Pty Ltd South Africa opened
• 2011 – Bronx Process Technologies, s.r.o. established in Slovakia
• 2013 – Bronx Thermal Solutions created
• 2015 – The Bronx Group celebrates 75 years
• 2020 – The Bronx Group celebrates 80 years
• 2025 – The Bronx Group celebrates 85 years in business
