Useful Tool to Work with Your Uncoiler – Bronx Lightweight Mandrel System

Bore sizes of feed coils to production lines — such as continuous paint and galvanising lines — vary worldwide. Typically, bore sizes of 508mm (20″) and 610mm (24″) are supplied. Designers of continuous paint lines often specify 508mm uncoiler mandrels. To fit a 610mm bore coil, rubber components are used for a secure fit.

Bronx developed a lightweight mandrel system to simplify handling. Components are light enough for a single operator to lift and replace—no cranes or heavy machinery required. Once installed, the segments expand with the mandrel to make firm contact with the coil.

Traditional rubber sleeves are heavy and awkward, often requiring cranes and causing delays. The Bronx lightweight sleeve is safer, faster, and more reliable—minimising downtime and improving operator safety.

How Does It Work?

1. Fit twelve (12) components around the assembly tool.
2. Slide rubber bands into the grooves.
3. Repeat for five (5) full sets.
4. Push each set onto the mandrel by hand.
