Bronx Roll On Passivation Coaters

Bronx  have developed Roll on Passivation Coaters that rolls on a protective passivant coating. After galvanising and cooling, a chemical, usually chromic based, is applied to both sides of the strip to prevent the coating losing its bright finish.

A roll on passivation coater system offers significant benefits over other methods such as spray & dunk tanks:

• Reduced cost of chemical due to the control over coating thickness
• Zero pollution as all the chemical goes on the strip
• Reduced space requirement
• Reverse or direct application
• Low maintenance

These coaters are suitable for applying:

• Surface treatment prior to painting
• Passivation
• Thin organic coating

Features of Bronx Coaters

• Top and bottom rolls pan fed
• Hydraulic positioning of pans giving access for cleaning and ease of removal
• Forward and reverse coating capability
• Bottom roll removal with quick change roll out assembly

The Bronx coater can be combined with a number of configurations of drying oven to ensure efficient water evaporation from coating.

• Hot air

Typical operating temperatures range from 60-80 degrees Celsius (140-176 F) PMT with length of oven varying depending on method of heating used. Additional cooling can be added to ensure that strip enters the next process at the optimum temperature using:

• Air Knife
• Water Cooled Rolls

The Bronx Roll on Passivation Coater System can form part of a new line or can easily be retrofitted to most existing galvanising lines.
